Continue developing leadership and making an impact on your school/community through your extracurricular activities.
Take PSAT and consider registering for winter SAT or ACT.
Log into gafutures.org to check on HOPE/Zell Miller GPA. You will need a cumulative 9-12 GPA (including only core academic classes) of 3.0 for HOPE and 3.7 plus an SAT of 1200 or ACT of 26 for Zell Miller. HOPE offers 75% tuition at any public Georgia university and Zell Miller offers 100% tuition at any public Georgia university.
Winter
Students have family college counseling meetings with Ms. Levy-- plan courses for senior year and create preliminary college list.
Begin researching colleges, considering location, size, Jewish life on campus, cost, majors.
Students should register for and take standardized tests (SAT and/or ACT)—minimum of 1 or 2 tests before senior year; total of @ 3.
Begin making plans for summer, which is also a great time to do community service or interesting summer programs.
Spring
Attend AJA Junior College Night, as well as College Essay, Resume, and Applications Workshop
Summer before Senior Year
Work on your Personal Statement (college essay)
Visit colleges, if possible
Research requirements of colleges of interest and make spreadsheet of deadlines, testing requirements, deadlines
