Atlanta Jewish Academy was incorporated on July 1, 2014, as a result of the merger of Greenfield Hebrew Academy (GHA) and Yeshiva Atlanta (YA) - the oldest Jewish day schools in Atlanta.
Founded in 1953, GHA had a history of distinction and achievement. GHA was the first Jewish day school in the country to be accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and it was twice honored as a National School of Excellence by the Council for American Private Education. GHA also won the highly respected Jerusalem Prize for exemplary achievement in Zionist and Torah Education, administered by the World Zionist Organization.
GHA's founders fervently believed the timeless values of the Jewish community transcended the differences among denominations. They envisioned and ultimately built a place where Jews could and should respect each other, learn from each other, and work for the community's greater good.
Founded in 1971, Yeshiva Atlanta was Atlanta’s oldest co-educational Jewish high school with a remarkable record of academic achievement. YA understood that adolescent growth involves four areas: intellectual, social-emotional, physical, and religious-spiritual. To nurture the well-rounded student, the school promoted participation in sports, fine arts, and service learning in addition to academic excellence. YA’s nurturing environment offered many opportunities for students to develop their own identities, both in the secular world and the Jewish community.
The merger of GHA & YA combined the best of both schools.
We are proud of Atlanta Jewish Academy and we offer to our Early Childhood - 12th Grade students on their Jewish Journey.
